Comic Book Men Review (Huffington Post)
(It took a full 30 seconds for the cast of Kevin Smith's Comic Book Men to make their first penis joke. Immediately, we realized the show would do little to dispel any of the stereotypes associated with comic store owners and staff. AMC's new reality show chronicles the life and times of five people working at the New Jersey comic book store "Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash." )
Comic Book Men Revealed (Little Silver Patch)
(No one likes Mace Windu. It's noon at Secret Stash and Mike Zapcic is behind the counter fielding calls while Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith plays on the television overhead. It's a pivotal scene. Windu, a Jedi master, is fighting Palpatine, the ultimate bad guy, the Sith Lord. Palpatine hits Windu with some force lightning, sends him flying out the window and to his death. Zapcic acknowledges the tumbling Samuel L. Jackson; says something we probably shouldn't print here. He's likely seen this movie, this scene, plenty times before. Suffice it to say he's still not surprised that Windu got it in the end. Good guy or not, he just sucks. This is comic book store conversation. )

Comic Book Men Premiere Review: Kevin Smith Talks Geek But Not Enough Shop In AMC’s New Reality Series (Buzz Focus)
(Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) made a lucrative career in making films and whoring merchandise for the slacker, the geek, and yes, the common store clerk. But in recent years Smith and his entourage have become accessible to his fans through a variety of podcasts or “Smodcasts,” the most popular featuring with Smith with film producer and friend, Scott Mosier. Now Smith is taking the Smodcasts and relying on his loyal fanbase to turn the tube to AMC and their latest reality-TV show, Comic Book Men, produced by the people behind L.A. Ink, to shine a light on the world of running a comic book shop.)
COMIC BOOK MEN: THE NOT-SO-MIGHTY AVENGERS (Television Without Pity)
(Have no fear, the Comic Book Men are here! Kevin Smith and the merry band of geeks that staff his Jersey-located comic book shop, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash make the leap to reality TV with the premiere of this new AMC series, which plays like a cross between Pawn Stars, Antiques Roadshow, American Chopper and, of course, Clerks. Smith himself isn't the focal point of the series, instead appearing primarily in segments filmed at the recording studio where he and the four-man Secret Stash team -- Walt Flanagan, Bryan Johnson, Michael Zapcic and Ming Chen -- tape the Comic Book Men podcast.)
Comic Book Men Off To A Controversial But Funny Start (Comic Book Blog)
(With Kevin Smith involved, it should be no surprise that Comic Book Men is not without controversy. The first big controversy came with the name of the show. Some took offense that the show was called Comic Book Men, which suggested the show was overlooking female comic book fans. And while the central cast of the show is all men, there were women included as customers on the premiere episode. Smith has also hinted that if the show is successful that there could be a Comic Book Women series down the road.)
